Avon's 6th- through 8th-Grade Orchestras are Golden

On March 10 and 11, orchestra groups from Avon Intermediate School East, Avon Intermediate School West, Avon Middle School North, and Avon Middle School South all earned Gold ratings from the ISSMA organizational contest hosted at Avon Middle School North. In addition, five of the eight groups earned a Gold rating with Distinction Honor.

The Indiana State School Music Association provides adjudication at over 120 sites across Indiana to students from grade levels 5 to 12. The judging panels provide important information for students and teachers to improve their musical skills throughout the school year and moving forward.

Here is the breakdown of awards:

• East – Mrs. Easterday, Gold
• West – Ms. Barnett, Gold with Distinction
• North 7th – Mr. Ziolkowski, Gold
• North 8th - Mr. Ziolkowski, Gold with Distinction
• North Chamber - Mr. Ziolkowski, Gold with Distinction
• South 7th – Mr. Miller, Gold with Distinction
• South 8th – Mr. Miller, Gold with Distinction
• South Chamber – Mr. Miller, Gold
